The Knysna Heads is one of the best know landmarks on the Garden Route. The sea pushes into the Knysna Lagoon through the Heads, which is short for headlands. The Eastern Head has a very - and I mean VERY - upmarket residential area on it, while the Western Head is a protected area called Featherbed Nature Reserve.

Each of the bedrooms is situated in its own chalet (or cabin or hut, whatever you want to call them). You get a queen size bed with mosquito net draped over and around it. Fairy princess - or in my case, prince - kind of stuff. There is a huge bath with big floor to ceiling windows. There are also indoor and outdoor showers and loads of other amenities.
The big sliding doors open up onto a private deck with your own swimming pool. The only beings who can see in through your windows or onto your deck are the wildlife, so it is possible that you may open your curtains in the morning and find an elephant or even a lion trying to sneak a peak.
Dinner is served either in the lodge or out in the boma. At either venue you can sit around the fire before and after the meal enjoying a drink while discussing the days events and sightings. There is few things as relaxing as sitting by the fire and listening to the night sounds.
The less I say about the food the better. I could just go on and on and on... Here is our starter. It had springbok capacio and prickly pear salad amongst others. The main meal included kudu steak, bobotie, roasted lamb and loads of vegetables, not to mention the dessert.
You go on two game drives for every nights accommodation. The morning game drive starts at 06:30 and ends at about 08:30. Guests then return for breakfast at the lodge and if you choose to sit outside on the deck, this is the view across the plains towards the hills in the background.
If I could choose to be any animal in the world, this would be my choice. The Leopard. One of the Big 5, fast, agile, strong, mysterious, beautiful and so much more. One awesome animal. This was another of the pics taken at Pumba Private Game Reserve.
For some reason I just like a two track path through the bush. It has a certain exploring quality to it... 
... and when it goes up a hill and disappears in the mist, it ads mystery.
I got to spend the night at Pumba Private Game Reserve last night along with a couple of international journalists. On our afternoon game drive we encountered a male lion and I couldn't resist the temptation to make it as much about me as about him.
